Can we even talk about timeless knitwear?
Many perceive the concept of timeless as classic when we talk about knitwear and fashion. And there is some truth to that, classic items are easy to look at for a long time, unlike pronounced fashion items such as broad-shouldered blazers with shoulder pads, which we saw in the 80s, or as it will surely be with the many 'puff' sleeves we see on sleeves, dresses, knitwear etc. right now. But classic items can also become a bit boring in the long run...
How classic without being boring?
One of the most important messages in the current debate on sustainability is that one should buy fewer pieces of clothing, but instead buy clothes that one experiences particular joy in and therefore will use and take care of for many years to come. The answer must therefore be that we, as designers, try to strike a timeless style. But is it even possible to create a collection that will be relevant at all times? One can spend a long time thinking about that... We have tried to create clothes that are classic without being boring. The clothes should exude good craftsmanship, and they should have such high quality – in design and material – that they age gracefully. Timeless design and personal style
The design is simple, Nordic in style and timeless with a twist of something refreshing and is available in a variety of colors. The idea is that the clothes should be usable for many years to come and not end up at the back of the closet as boring and unfashionable. It should be combinable with the rest of the wardrobe for everyday, at work and for parties so that it is truly used again and again. If you have a pair of trousers or a skirt with a pattern, checks or stripes that you are really fond of, then the answer might be to choose a plain blouse that matches both that pair of trousers, but is also usable for everyday wear with your jeans or your little short black skirt and high heels when you go out. Jewelry can also make a difference when your classic knitwear needs to be dressed up.
The importance of colors for slow fashion
Colors have great significance for the individual. One must be able to make a relatively personal choice so that the product fits with the rest of the wardrobe, and in addition, it can be the way to have a good and long relationship with one's knitwear. When we use many colors, we must be careful not to produce more than we can sell. Therefore, we ensure that the slightly special colors are largely produced according to customer orders and are not stored in large quantities that we may not sell.
We also knit some of our styles in black, even though it may not be the most environmentally friendly color, as it requires a higher concentration of chemicals to stay beautiful. But it turns out that most women use their black clothes much more often and much longer than other colors, and that may be the most important thing when we want to protect the climate and environment. In other words, there is not just one single truth in the entire difficult debate about sustainability, but several angles on the dilemmas…
